Finding time to work out, let alone finding time to yourself, is next to impossible once a woman becomes a mother. Between the children, spouse, career and personal obligations, many women become too overwhelmed with the daily grind to eek out any precious moments to themselves. What if your community had an organization where mothers came together once a week to work towards a common fitness goal, listen to inspiring guest speakers and even had built-in social and philanthropic opportunities?

Moms In Motion, Inc. is a national women’s community where mothers are encouraged to carve out personal time using fitness teams as the medium. “Busy women really need time to themselves in order to recharge,” says MIM founder Jamie Allison. “The result is not only improved health and fitness and new friends, but overall happier families.”

Moms In Motion has been featured in several local and national magazines and start-up teams are popping up across the US. Current teams include triathlon, running, hiking and walking—but of course the possibilities are endless. “We started with a triathlon team but felt awful when we had to turn women away who wanted to participate but were intimidated by the triathlon idea,” Allison explains. “So we organized teams that would appeal to all ages and abilities. The most binding aspect of MIM is the supportive, all-female environment. Every woman has a story to share.”

As the word spreads, MIM has one goal: To ensure that every mom in every city across the US has access to a training group. Women interested in creating a local team will find all the information they need to get started on the company’s website (www.momsinmotion.com). The website also features testimonials, training logs, an event calendar, team information, and a retail store selling exclusive MIM gear. Members use the site as a hub to share inspirational stories, photos, even recipes and book recommendations.

Finally, as of late summer, 2009, Moms in Motion is coming to Northwest Atlanta! Right now teams are forming to train for the Zooma women’s half marathon in November, 2009.
